Human Sources (CHIS) domestic violence and managing risk

An interesting article from the BBC relating to the management of a Covert Human Intelligence Source (CHIS) (confidential informant) and the sources alleged involvement in domestic violence. This case involves the security service (MI5) and a person they managed as an informant.

There is a reason we take two days to teach risk management relating to the management of human sources and/or undercover operations. There are a lot of things that can go wrong and few of those involved have any idea how to identify, quantify and manage risk properly. We provide all our students with a 200 page manual to support their understanding.

While the very nature of risk management means that it is difficult to predict all risks with good training agencies can effectively identify and manage most risks. A failure to do so may lead to lawsuits, criminal prosecution and/or significant damage to an agency’s reputation.

If your agency has not trained their officers in risk management or you have identified specific risk and are not quite sure how to document or manage them, get in touch +447739370969 or info@hsmtraining.com

We are here to help.
