Confidential Informant Corruption - Canada

Here is a story from York Regional Police in Toronto Canada which we have discussed before. A sixteen year veteran was sentence to over seven years in prison, for corruption relating at least in part to the management of confidential informants (HUMINT, confidential human sources, CHIS)

If confidential informants are properly managed and if an agency has adequate systems in place this type of corruption becomes all but impossible and where it takes place, it is rapidly easily detected.

AT HSM Training and Consultancy we know how to build systems that will reduce the risk of corruption and increase the amount of good information obtained from informants. We have been involved in training Canadian police officers for over 20 years. We are familiar with the terrain and the pitfalls.
